The time when Michigan decided to become Florida is coming to an end and the stress of school is settling in. Ah yes, fall is upon West Michigan. But what are you going to do? It’s too cold for the beach but you don’t want to stay at home. Well, here are my top five fall activities for when you need a fall pick-me-up. Click on the links to find out more!
Coffee is the drink that’s good any time of year because it’s so versatile, but it’s especially good on a chilly fall day. Downtown Grand Rapids is a hub of coffee shops just waiting for you to settle into. They provide a perfect sanctuary from the cold and create a relaxing atmosphere that allows students to get their study on. A personal favorite is Madcap Coffee on Monroe Center, offering plenty of seats both in or outside, and it provides prime people watching. Click here to find out more
While it may seem like something that high schoolers are “too mature” for, playing in the leaves is a classic way to have fun in the fall. So when your parents tell that you have to go rake the backyard, have fun with it! Make a pile and jump in or throw the leaves around like confetti. Enjoy every last second of feeling like a kid this fall.
Robinette’s Apple Haus and Winery is hands down one of the greatest things about fall in Michigan. From donuts to apples and corn mazes, there’s lots to do here, providing the ultimate fall experience fueled by fresh donuts and apple cider. Plus, the apples are grown right there in their orchards so you don’t have have the fear of buying bags of Mystery Apples that are usually sub-par. It’s a win-win! Check out Robinette’s here!
Nothing says fall quite like scary and/or dark movies and TV shows, like “Twin Peaks,” a timeless show from the nineties, about a girl who turns up dead under mysterious circumstances on the beach. Coffee-loving FBI agent Dale Cooper is sent in to investigate and what he finds will leave you on the edge of your seat. It’s the perfect show to curl up and watch on a fall Friday night, especially when paired with a cup of black coffee. Take a look at Twin Peaks on IMDB here!
Go for a hike this fall! Michigan has over 220 miles of trail running from shore to shore, according to Pure Michigan, so why not try one out this fall? Fall is one of, if not the, most beautiful times of the year and what better way to see it than getting up close and personal. It’s also a great way to spend some time with friends and family while having a good time. Check out some of Michigan’s hiking trails here!
