That’s a wrap on track

On Monday, May 14, the varsity track team traveled to Lowell to compete in the O.K. White conference meet.

Wildcats boys team placed sixth overall, while the ladies placed seventh.

In the 100m dash, Northview had 3 finalists. Freshman Ally Shukis placed sixth for the girls, junior Jehkota Tierney and sophomore Jakaurie Kirkland took home a third and fourth place finish for the boys, respectively.

Kirkland and Tierney were also a part of the boys 4x100m relay, along with junior Donavan Richardson and senior Khalil Graham, that placed first. The girls 4x100m relay team of sophomore Skylar Baker, senior Ashley Gogolin, and juniors Sha’Kyia Parker and Zyan Tatum, placed fifth.

Two runners placed top eight in the 200m dash as well. Kirkland placed fifth and Richardson placed seventh.

The team had two conference champions in field events. Junior Claire Rose won high jump for the second year in a row.

Other finalists in field events include: Junior Jalen Williams in shot put and discus, sophomore Carter Smith in long jump, sophomore Aidan Lawrence and junior Steven Sweet in pole vault, and junior Ethan Klaiss, sophomore Chance Annis, and Parker in long jump.
