Northview boys varsity basketball played for a district championship against the undefeated Forest Hills Northern on March 1, and they were not going to let the title slip away.

This isn’t the first time these two teams took to the hardwood together. The last meeting was on February 22, with the Wildcats taking the loss 60-46. Obviously, a hard pill to swallow, but the Wildcats would not let that happen for a second time.

In total, the game took 7 periods of play, going into triple overtime quarter. Against all odds, Northview came out with a victory with a tip in buzzer beater by junior Aidan Walker.

But all of this could not have been possible without freshman Kyler Vanderjagt hitting a 30 foot double clutch bomb to send the game into its first overtime period. The Wildcats were firing on all cylinders, shooting 38% from the field and snagging 37 rebounds.

With the win, the Wildcats clinch the district title, and move to 18-4 on the season.
