It may not be Women’s History Month, but that doesnt mean a movie with a strong female cast isn’t exactly what your day needs. These are some of my favorite women lead movies to get your strong female cast fix.

A League Of Their Own

This is by far one of my favorite movies of all time. It’s based on a true story, about a women’s baseball league that is created because of men leaving for World War II. The movie follows their struggles towards equality as women playing a “man’s sport”. This is a great movie with some amazing actors and actresses including Madonna, Geena Davis and Rosie O’Donnell. These lead cast members make the movie, especially the famous “there’s no crying in baseball scene” with Tom Hanks. This movie is a classic and a must see for the family, if you’re looking for something educational and comedic this is for you.

Wonder Woman (2017)

Whether you’re watching the old one from 1984 or the new one from 2017, this movie is invigorating. I don’t usually like fantasy-like movies, or action for that matter but this movie was very well done and kept me entertained. The action scenes were done all too well with gorgeous costumes to match. Wonder Woman is the princess of a fantasy island, but when she meets a man from the outside world she finds her true calling. The action packed scene coupled with the romance makes for the perfect balance. This is a great film for action and adventure lovers that includes a strong female cast.

On The Basis of Sex

I watched this when it first came out and enjoyed it. I had higher expectations for it, but it did a great job portraying the late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s life in a drama format. The movie looked into her personal life and the behind the scenes of her accomplishments. The timeline follows her earlier career, starting from her first years as a Harvard law student and being one of the only women in her class. In the film RBG fights for the chance to prove herself in the world of law, specifically in the revolutionary case, Moritz v. Commissioner, when Ginsburg fights for the rights of a man who was discriminated on the basis of sex. All in all, this is a good movie to put on your list to learn more about one of the most Influential women in law.

Ocean’s 8

This is the movie to watch if you’re feeling sneaky. Although I don’t think this Ocean’s movie compares to the originals, because those are just classics that cannot be touched, the trademark flow and stealthy nature of these films makes it such an enjoyable watch and this one is no different. Somehow this director got every big name actress in Hollywood in the same movie and their chemistry is great. The team of eight women, including Rihanna, Anne Hathaway, and Sandra Bullock, decide to steal a famous necklace the night of the Met Gala. This is a good Blockbuster watch for those who enjoy heist films.

The Help

The Help includes some favorites like chocolate pie, and big name actresses like Viola Davis and Emma Stone. Unlike the other movies, this one is not just about being a woman in the world, it’s about the challenges of being a black woman in the Jim Crow south. The story follows Minnie and Abilene, two women working as maids for high class white women. I thought the acting was superb and the script had some very funny scenes that keep the audience stirring in their seats. Directors and producers did a great job portraying the time period as well.
