Mark your calendars, November 9 and 10 the Theater Department will be putting on their annual fall play, starting at 7:30 pm in the Performing Arts Center.

The Theater Department will be performing a rendition of the holiday classic, ‘It’s A Wonderful Life.’

Director Malia Huffman picked the show because of how it can connect to all ages, as well as being a fun story for both the actors to perform and the audience to watch. Huffman hopes that the popular show will bring more people to the audience.

“To see ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’ performed on stage is quite an iconic experience,” Huffman said.

The cast has been hard at work the past month, practicing 4 days a week from 6-8 pm, but they practice even more during the final weeks leading up to the performance to make the show the best it can be.  As they are getting closer to the performance, the cast is pleased with how it is coming together.

“I’m excited to start putting the set together soon as it really helps the actors to feel their environment and be more comfortable in it,”  Huffman said.

This year’s cast is full of fresh faces. Senior Tia Hawkes, a veteran to the theater department, was fired up about the many newcomers.

We have a lot of new people from all different grades, so it’s very exciting,” Hawkes said.

One of the new additions is sophomore Hannah Cooke who will be taking on a lead role in this production. Cooke is thrilled to be apart of this year’s cast and she has found it to be a rewarding experience.

“Everyone is so fun to be around and it’s always great to work in a positive environment,” Cooke said.

They may have a lot of fun, but the cast knows how to get work done along the way. Their work will soon pay off when they take center stage on Friday and Saturday. Tickets for the show will be available to purchase at lunches, as well as online.

“It’s an attention grabbing show, you will never be bored watching it. It’s very heartwarming,” Hawkes said.
