When students get lunch from school, they should know that the lunch ladies put a lot of time and effort into feeding kids. During Covid times, it can be hard for families to find time to make lunch. Meet the ladies that do it for them.
Janice Jager
Janice Jager aims to accomplish something different at Northview each day. Before Northview Jager was the manager at big apple bagel, so when she became the manager at Northview she already had experience in the food industry. She started working at Northview in 2005. Outside of school she hangs out with her two grandkids. She has a third on the way.
“Always try new things, be adventurous. If there’s an open door , take it,” Jager said.
Kimbra Lingston
Kimbra Lingston enjoys seeing the students interacting with each other each day since 2021. Outside of school, Lingston spends time with her grandchildren and attends bible study.
“Put down [your] phones more and interact and get to know people,” Kingston said, “Enjoy [your] time in high school”
Sherri Chacho
Sherri Chacho has four kids, one of which is her son and the others being daughter triplets. She’s been teaching dance for 36 years, and working in the kitchen since 2013.
“Never give up no matter how hard [it is],” Chacho said.
Regan Johnston
Regan Johnston has been working at Northview since 2019. The community in the lunchroom is one of the best parts of Johnson’s job. Outside of school, she is happily married with three boys. She enjoys playing competitive games with her family.
“Just be honest and true to yourself and your friends, and you know this time of your life doesn’t last forever, so just get through it and pursue your dreams,” Johnston said.
Mimi Grix
Ever since last summer Mimi Grix has been able to enjoy the environment staff and students bring to Northview, especially her boss, Janice Jager. In her free time Grix loves to cook Asian and Mexican food. Grix is from Mexico but has been an American citizen for fifteen years.
“Keep going , because life is not easy. Keep working hard,” Grix said.
Kelly Cleveland
Four years ago Kelly Clevland started her career in the kitchen at Norview. She taught volleyball and track, fifth to eighth grade. She enjoys interacting with the kids. Cleveland has two kids, and a ten month old grandson that she babysits everyday.
“Do what you want to do and don’t let others bring you down,” Cleveland said.
Bridget Schoepf
For five years Bridget Schoepf has been able to enjoy the interaction with the kids in the lunch lines, and eating the salads Northview offers. Schoepf is very busy with her two kids, Collin and Vivian, who go to Northview and play basketball and football. She loves to travel, and her favorite trip was to Germany when she was younger.
“Don’t take life too seriously. Everything will work out, just trust the process,” Schoepf said.
Deb Barth
For the past 17 years, Deb Barth has been able to work in the kitchen at Northview. Barth’s favorite part of her job is spending time with her coworkers in the kitchen. Summer brings lots of fun activities for Barth; she bikes, spends time with her grandkids and fishes. The biggest fish she has ever caught was a six pound catfish.
“I know it’s a time where you want to goof off but you [have to] try hard. You’re not going to be this age [forever],” Barth said.
Carrie Powers
Carrie Powers started working at Northview in 2006. She loves seeing the kids every day. She has two dogs, and enjoys going to the park with them. Powers loves to read, and her favorite genre is murder mystery.
“Don’t sweat the small stuff, it’s going to go alright. As you get older you look back and say ‘Why was I worried about that?,” Powers said.
Casey Sheehan
Casey Sheehan started working at Northview two and a half months ago. She loves spending time with the people she works with. She likes Chinese food, spending time with family and going on vacations.
“Always do what you love,” Sheehan said.
Karen Jesse
Karen Jesse has been working at Northview for 20 years. She loves spending time with the students. During summer Jesse is busy riding her bike, bowling, going to weddings, camping and spending time with family. Jesse has two sons, a daughter and three granddogs.
“What you put into your studies you’ll receive. I’m always here to help anybody if they need advice. I always treat all these kids as if they’re my own,” Jesse said.
