For most teachers their only job is teaching, but math teacher Sarah Snyder doesn’t stop working at 2:35.
“I work many jobs. I teach a class at Aquinas College, I work in retail and I sell cars,” Snyder said.
Snyder also helps the high school community as more than just a teacher.
A few years ago, Snyder was asked to take over the recycling club. She now co-runs the club with Student Resource Center (SRC) Director Nikki Mulheisen. Snyder has always been somewhat conscious about being “green,” but being a part of this club has helped her to become more mindful about the decisions she makes.
Snyder thinks it is important for students to have opportunities to give back and help the Earth.
“Many students want to give back and help others but they don’t know where or how to start. Recycling club is a great way to get started,” Snyder said.
When Snyder isn’t teaching, recycling or selling cars she loves to spend time with friends and her family. Every year she hosts a chili cook off for her family because “It’s a good excuse to get everyone together for some fun,” Snyder said.
In the building, Snyder is most inspired by Trevor Chalmers because he is always doing new things to be the best teacher he can be.
Snyder often says “love your face” to her students. Although this seems somewhat weird at first, Snyder says it as a way to show her love and appreciation for her students and bring a smile to their faces.
“I love Northview students because they’re such real individuals. We have a great group of young people who are very respectful and have such great personalities,” Snyder said.
