The power to leave an impact on each student who passes through your room is a gift rarely given, yet for some it comes with ease. Jason Prince was one of these gifted educators, positively influencing the lives of students daily.

On December 3, 2024 the Northview community was faced with devastating news. Educator Jason Prince passed away unexpectedly. Prince impacted the lives of thousands, educating young students at East Oakview Elementary and Highlands Middle School across 25 years.

Prince was a man of faith who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, restoring cars, golfing, hunting and coaching.

Known to be in perpetual motion, Prince took to restoring a 1962 Chevrolet Impala during the 2020 Covid shutdowns as a way to keep busy and remain sane. Prince earned acclaim for this impressive project in an article from Hagerty.

Husband, father, and educator Prince is survived by his wife Lynn Prince, and his two children MaryHelen and Noah Prince. With both his daughter and son being Northview alums and living in Rockhill, the Prince family are wildcats through and through.

The loss of Prince is a tragedy that will leave scar tissue on our hearts forever. An obituary remembering the life of Prince has been released and is available for all to read.

During this sad time, there are resources available for anyone struggling with Prince’s passing. Help is within arms reach in the counseling office for any student needing to talk with someone.

A visitation will be held from 5p.m-8p.m on December 13th at Pederson Funeral Home in Rockford. A memorial service to honor the life of Prince will be held at 1p.m on December 14th at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church.
