The bright side of COVID-19

It’s been more than five weeks since students have attended Michigan schools. Cities across the country are shutting down in hopes to slow down the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19.) For most, it’s been difficult to modify our lives to cope with the spread of this new virus. But even during these difficult times, it’s important to have a good attitude and recognize the positive side of quarantining.

  1. We get to be a part of history…

The whole world is shutting down, that hasn’t happened before. So believe it or not, our experience will be in history books in years to come. We’ll talk to our children and grandchildren about our quarantine experience and how devastating this virus was to the world. And hope they don’t have to endure anything like it.

  1. You have the time to do things you normally wouldn’t…

Because you’re spending so much time cooped up in your house during quarantine, you have all the time in the world to do some things you’ve always wanted to do. You could dye your hair, spend the whole day reading, knit a scarf or bake a cake. The possibilities are endless, try doing something new and different.

  1. No need to look good for anyone…

It’s your time to shine in those PJ’s and messy hair. If you’re quarantining at home with your family there’s no one to impress, so take advantage of it. Give yourself a break from the makeup or hair gel, keep your jeans in your dresser and your shoes in the closet, just sit back and relax in your sweats.

  1. Quality time with family…

Even though this extended time with family seems like it will never end, and your sibling has never been so annoying, try to take advantage of all this time with them. You’ve probably never spent this much time together so be aware that this is just as strange for them as it is for you. Go on a walk, play a game or have dinner as a family, you’ll keep these memories forever.

  1. Time to relax…

Even though what’s going on outside of our homes is a bit scary, and not knowing what will happen is stressful, take this time to try and relax. All we really can do is embrace this “coronacation” so take a bath, light a candle, listen to music or even meditate. Whatever helps you de-stress, do it.
