Let’s take it all the way back… to 2014, the year we started high school. The building was brand new and so were we. Wide eyed and lost, the freshman versions of ourselves were trying to figure out the whole high school thing.
Looking back on those moments, many of us cringe at the decisions we made. I am so proud of everyone who has made it this far, and I can’t wait to finish this experience with you all.
So now let’s see exactly how far we have come.
What we were excited about:
Constantly voting on twitter for Northview’s student section – We deserved it, our student section was amazing freshman year with the leadership of Maxwell Purwin (’16 grad).
Mikey Callender – Nothing more to say there.
The Boys Varsity Basketball team – Who won the title of Conference Champs and played in the District Finals.
#shareacoke – We all desperately tried to find our names, RIP to everyone with a unique name
“Mutant Giant Spider Dog” – The most watched YouTube video of freshman year, everyone should go watch it again. It is simultaneously still hilarious, yet absolutely ridiculous that we loved that video so much.
Stuff we said (and did) that should stay in the past:
“YOLO” – This acronym’s popularity was coming to a close in 2014, but I just wanted to remind everyone to never say it again.
Every joke ever made about Ebola – Yeah that was an all time low for our generation.
The ALS Ice Bucket challenge – Started as a good thing but was taken way too far.
“Bae” – Just no.
What we listened to:
Maroon 5 – “Sugar”
Anything from “Frozen” – One too many times.
Iggy Azalea – “Fancy”
Pharrell Williams – “Happy” (still a bop)
What we watched:
“Guardians of the Galaxy” – When the new Chris Pratt emerged (he was no longer Andy from Parks & Rec.)
“Into the Woods”
“Pitch Perfect 2” – This means that “Pitch Perfect”(the first one) came out in 2012, 6 YEARS AGO, dang that makes me feel old.
“The Interview”
Graduation is just around the corner, so let’s make these last few weeks count. We have been looking forward to this moment for four years now, and here it is. The countdown is at less than 30 days. We have been high schoolers for the last 1332 days of our lives, now it’s time for the next chapter.
