As the holidays are getting closer, it’s time to start thinking about what treats to bring to the family gatherings. Here are three simple recipes to try this holiday season.

Peanut Butter Balls:

Ingredients:

Two sticks of butter

One box of confectioners sugar

Two cups of graham cracker crumbs

One cup of chopped nuts

1 ½ cup of peanut butter

12 oz bag of chocolate chips

Directions:

  1. Mix the ingredients together in a mixing bowl.
  2. Form the “batter” into balls.
  3. Melt the chocolate and then dip the balls into chocolate

Holiday heath bars:

Ingredients:

Saltine crackers

One cup of butter

One cup of brown sugar

12 oz bag of chocolate chips

Optional: holiday sprinkles

Directions:

  1. Boil one cup of butter and one cup of brown sugar for three minutes.
  2. Pour the butter and brown sugar over the saltine crackers.
  3. Bake for five minutes at 400 degrees.
  4. Melt and pour the chocolate over the crackers
  5. Chill in the fridge overnight.

Christmas sugar cookies:

Ingredients:

One cup of butter (Blue Bonnet or Imperial)
1 1⁄2 cups of powdered sugar
One egg
One teaspoon of vanilla
2 1⁄2 cups of flour
One teaspoon of baking soda
1 teaspoon of cream of tarter

Directions:

1.Mix butter, sugar, egg and vanilla and thoroughly mix.
2.Add baking soda and cream of tarter and mix thoroughly.
3.Add flour.
4. Dough will be very moist. Add some more flour. Then put flour on counter, grab a good size chunk of dough. Knead on counter adding more flour as needed.
5. Roll out not super thin but not super thick.

6. Bake 375 degrees
Bake 7-8 minutes
