While Sophomores twins Lilly and Ava Niedzielski are often complete opposites, they still manage to keep a close relationship, despite different hobbies, friends and  aesthetics. However both sisters can agree that there are a lot of assumptions of being a twin that are not true.

“People always think you have a built-in best friend but you’re forced to do things together. They expect you to know all their movements and everything about them,” Lilly said.

Although being a twin may not always be as easy and fun as one may think, some advantages are getting help with schoolwork, stealing clothes and always having someone to talk to. A disadvantage that both twins feel very passionate about is their birthday.

“Birthdays are the worst because you get the same gift in different colors and matching clothes,” Ava said.

Being a twin also means being compared a lot. These set of twins have two very different interests, but one thing they both have in common is dedication to athletics and sports. Ava is a part of the wrestling team while Lilly does sideline and competitive cheer.

Ava began her love for wrestling only last year and has already made a big accomplishment, getting eighth at her state competition individually and the girls team placed second at states. She wants to continue to improve and get better at her high crotch to double leg wrestling tactics.

“My season is going good, I’ve made a lot of bonds [with my teammates]. That’s the most important thing because I’m not a very outgoing person and it’s like a family. I’ve also worked on a lot to make me better than last year,” Ava said.

Lilly has been cheering for six years and considers this season her most successful. This year she was a part of the record breaking competitive cheer team. Along with the team achievements, she has also been working very hard on her personal skills.

“I bonded with a lot of people I don’t think I would’ve met outside of cheer, and getting off the mat and knowing you just hit everything and you just put your best effort out there is the best feeling in the world,” Lilly said.

Both twins find that playing different sports allows them to be independent and have a chance to grow their own relationships with people on their own. They both make sure to support each other at their sporting events and cheer each other on.

“Being a twin means that you always have somebody to rely on, and you always have somebody to talk to about anything you need,”Lilly said.
