Theatre journey: Amara Grajewski

From joining theater their freshman year, to now taking a wrap on playing Lumiere in Beauty and the Beast, senior Amara Grajewski has accomplished so much in their high school career. They are involved in a wide range of activities that aren’t limited to theater, including Student Council, WAVE, Debate, and Varsity Voices.

“I tried to get involved in as many clubs as I could,” Grajewski said.

Grajewski started out their high school theater career performing in High School Musical. Growing up they were inspired by the high school shows and wanted to perform.

“Performing was always something that I really loved and I did my first shows in middle school,” Grajewski said.

Beauty and the Beast was a big show for Northview, and Grajewski was happy to be a part of it to end their theater career here.

“It felt like a really big accomplishment for the school and it was just fun to be with all of my best friends our senior year to do a really fun show and all be together,” Grajewski said.

Since their freshman year, Grajewski has done so much and grown a lot. Taking on as much as they do, Grajewski finds motivation in themselves and always strives to do better.

“I do take on a lot, so at the end of the day I just want to see it all pay off to know that what I’m doing is the right thing,” Grajewski said.

As well as playing the role of Lumiere, Grajewski has played Cinderella in Into The Woods and Dolores Van Cartier in Sister Act in past Northview productions. They also played Elsa in Frozen in a Stage Gr production, and that was their favorite.

“[Playing Elsa] was a big childhood dream fulfillment moment so that’s my favorite role that I’ve ever played,” Grajewski said.

Grajewski has always had a passion for performing and has wanted to be on stage from a young age.

“I had grown up coming to the musicals at the high school and so I always looked up to the kids that were in them. I knew from the time that I was six that I wanted to be here,” Grajewski said.
