In the 2017-18 season, the Northview-Sparta-Comstock Park combined hockey team finished with a record of 16-8-2. This year, the team lost six seniors including four of Northview’s own.

For the 2018-2019 season, the team welcomed four new freshmen, three of whom attend Northview. Here is a look at the newest Wildcats to join the team with insight from coach Travis Nichol:

Colin Beckett

Position: Defenseman

Number: 16

Previous experience: 6 years of playing for the Rockford Rams bantam AA

Coach’s comment: “Colin is a defenseman with great size. Last year, he played travel hockey and played forward. After losing some key defenseman, he unselfishly stepped up and has done outstanding so far.”

Kyle Pitchure

Position: Defenseman

Number: 18

Previous experience: 4 years of playing for the West Kent Hawks

Coach’s comment: “Kyle is following in his brother’s footsteps by playing defense. He is a very aggressive player with a ton of potential. He often sets the tone in practice with his work ethic.”

Jovany Cerriteno

Position: Forward

Number: 24

Previous experience: 3 years of playing for the Grand Rapids Amature Hockey Association

Coach’s comment: “Jovany has only been playing hockey for three years, which is unbelievable considering how talented he is. He has outstanding hands and does a great job of finding space. We are excited to see him develop over the next four years.”
