Staying calm at home

With all the struggles teenagers have to deal with now, such as schoolwork and relationship troubles, they need a break once in a while. Here are some activities teenagers can do to stay relaxed and take a break in the comfort of their own homes.

Drawing and coloring are popular, therapeutic activities for all ages. It offers a way to focus attention on something and can help distract teenagers’ minds from the world for a little bit. Either drawing freestyle, coloring a coloring page, drawing something with a prompt in mind, or even mindless scribbles can give teens something to do to relax for a while. Picking up a nice coloring book or drawing carelessly can be the perfect solution to calm nerves.

Writing down different feelings is a great outlet as well. The process of writing thoughts down helps to understand them more clearly and prioritize different problems and concerns. Starting a daily journal to keep track of thought patterns or even putting them in the notes app is a great way to start.

Listening to calm music, specifically music with no lyrics, helps improve focus and calm the mind. Music has been found to enhance concentration and raise people’s moods. Youtube and Spotify are both free places to stream this type of music.

Finally, having a warm drink can be very comforting. There’s nothing better than climbing into bed with a mug of something hot when you’re feeling a little glum or just overwhelmed. Something preferably without a lot of caffeine for relaxation. Hot cocoa or tea are both perfect choices.

If anyone is stuck at home or just needs something to do on the weekends to sit back and relax, there is always something to do exactly that. So pick up some earbuds, grab a pen and start drawing, sip something warm and feel the calm kick in.
