Lauren Walsh: Athlete Q&A

What sport and position do you play?

Girls lacrosse, midfield.

How long have you been playing?

Since 5th grade, 5 years.

What motivates you?

Proving everybody wrong in what they think of girls lacrosse, and our program specifically.

What was your best season? Why?

100% this spring. We all worked harder than before and strived for something then achieved it.

Why did you decide to start playing the sport you do?

I watched my sister play the year before and decided I wanted to do it.

What is the ultimate goal you can imagine related to your sport?

Winning a conference championship each year I’m in school and the years following.

What have been your biggest achievements in athletics?

Winning conference champs. It was huge because it has never been done before in history and proved a lot of people wrong about us and girls lacrosse.

How do you think coaches can be more effective?

Have players work as a team. It isn’t a one person sport and there’s a substantial difference when teams play like a family.

What are your main strengths in your sport?

Shooting, especially off a quick stick pass from behind the crease.

What do you need to improve?

Training outside of practice, on the field and in the gym.

What do you like about training?

Being able to do new things in actual games.

What do you dislike about training?

Not being able to practice in game situations always.

Who are your biggest inspirations?

My sister, Natalie Walsh.
